Safety

SAFE GROOMING

As a groomer, my #1 priority is keeping myself and the pup safe. I always do my best to give you, as the owner, everything you are looking for in the groom. However, I don’t compromise safety for looks. When your pup gets nervous, aggressive, or even overly silly, there is an increased risk of injury. Since I am using sharp tools, I have to remain patient and slow down during these moments. Your pet may not be groomed to perfection every time. I charge for the time and work I spend with your pet on any behavior issues, whether I can finish the groom or not. Please be aware that aggressive dogs may temporarily be given a muzzle, or be sent home early. I do expect that you work with your dog’s behavior at home to help everyone have a more safe and positive experience. I limit the amount of time I spend grooming each dog to about 3 hours, to avoid over-stressing.

I highly encourage a regular 4-10 week schedule to maintain healthier, safer, and less stressed pups!

INJURIES & EMERGENCIES

By allowing me to groom your pet, you acknowledge any potential risks involved. I will let you know of any injuries that occur during the groom. Although unlikely, if veterinary care is needed for a preventable grooming-related injury, please let me know as soon as possible. Owners must disclose any pre-existing conditions prior to the groom, for which I cannot be held responsible. If I find something and don’t think it is safe to groom your pet, they will be sent home early.

In rare emergencies, pets may need immediate veterinary care. I will contact the owner and vet to find out best course of action. Please note I do have certification in Dog First Aid, Safety, & CPR and will do what I can to help your pet, unless told otherwise by the owner or vet professional. If I am unable to reach the owner, the dog may or may not be taken to the nearest available vet. Pet owners agree that I cannot be held responsible for emergencies that are unpreventable and not grooming-related.

Parasites & Skunks

Fleas, lice, mites, and worms should be treated before your grooming appointment. The groom will be stopped if any are found. There is a charge based upon the time I spent, starting at $25. Ticks may be removed unless I think it is best to be done by veterinary professionals. If necessary, please use the skunk directions at home before your next appointment. My salon keeps a high standard of cleanliness, with regular sanitation between each appointment.

Coat Types & Condition

MATTED COATS

Dogs with matted fur will be charged extra depending on severity. If your pet comes back multiple times with severe matting, you may not be accepted for future grooms. Matting is harmful and uncomfortable for your pet, and may need to be shaved. Brushing through mats is painful and damages the hair. Pre-existing conditions may be uncovered during the groom such as hematomas, skin irritations, and wounds, for which I am not to be held responsible. I encourage owners to keep up with grooming and brushing to avoid fees and your pet’s discomfort. Some cases of severe matting may have to be referred to a veterinarian to be groomed.

COAT TYPES & LENGTHS

Some dogs have coat types that are NOT recommended to be shaved. Common breeds include : German Shepherd, Husky, Golden Retriever, Bernese Mountain Dog, Boxer, Beagle, Bulldog, Collies, Chow Chow, Doberman, Australian Shepherd, Alaskan Malamute, Labrador Retriever, some Terriers, and Pomeranian. Shaving or deep trimming of these coats can cause permanent hair loss, damage, and disrupts their normal hair follicle cycle. This puts the dog at risk for sun exposure, bug bites, less efficient shedding, and no thermal protection. This might not have happened to your dog previously, but there is always a risk. I do not shave these coats unless there is severe matting. I am not responsible for hair damage that results from shaving these coats.

Longer coat lengths take more time and effort for bathing, drying, clipping, and scissoring. It also puts more wear on grooming tools. Due to this, all dogs with a final coat length of 1/2 inch or longer will be an additional $10. Please make sure you agree to all my services, pricing, & policies before booking.

Cancellations, No Shows, & Late Arrival Fees

Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations and no shows will incur a $25 fee. Arriving 15 minutes late for drop off or pick up will incur a $25 fee. Late drop offs may also need to be rescheduled. After 3 no shows, you will not be accepted for any future grooms. My salon is a one on one environment with each dog, so it is very important that you are prompt with pick up and drop off. All fees must be paid in full before your dog will be accepted for another groom.

Pick Up, Drop Off, & Payment Procedure

Make sure your pup has gone potty before the groom. Please arrive no more than about 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. When you arrive for pick up and drop off, text me that you have arrived and I will come out to get your pup. At the start of each appointment, I will do a quick examination of your pet’s coat and go over your grooming preferences. Please provide any medical issues at this time, and make sure that your vet has cleared them to be groomed. About 15 minutes before the end of the groom, I will text you so that you can make your way back to the salon. I will bring your cute & clean pup out when ready!

Payment is due in full at the end of each service. I accept venmo, cash, or card. Please be aware that there is a sales & use tax on grooming services as required by the state.

Privacy

This is a home-based salon, so please be respectful of my home, neighbors, and privacy. All dogs must have appointments and walk-ins are not welcome at any time. If for any reason you need to reach me, please text me with the number below. Please only park in front of my house, and not the neighbor’s. Always pick up after your dog. Any violation of this policy will result in not being accepted for future grooms. Thank you!

Social Media Release

Please be aware that I do use photos of your pet on social media platforms and marketing. By allowing me to groom your pet, you agree to these terms and my ownership of the photos. If you do not wish to have your pet posted, please let me know beforehand.

Products & Treats

The bathing products I use are high quality shampoos, conditioners, and sprays from brands that focus on natural ingredients. However, there is always a risk that your pet could be allergic or sensitive to any ingredient. Please let me know if you notice any possible reaction to a product shortly after a groom, so I know not to use it on your pet.

I give tasty treats throughout the groom to encourage a more positive experience. This usually consists of small carrot and apple slices. Please let me know if you don’t want your dog to have treats. I am not responsible for sensitivities caused by any of these products, but I do work to facilitate a safe and positive experience for every pet!

I look forward to grooming your pup!
